Shopify Fall ’26 introduced plenty of updates. For a store, the useful question is not how many features there are, but where they reduce manual work and support better decisions. At HORZO, we would focus on three areas: everyday administration with Sidekick, workflow version management with Flow, and product data tailored to sales channels.
1. Sidekick: several changes, one review
Sidekick can prepare a batch of up to 50 store changes. They are presented for review before they take effect. This is useful when you need to update a group of products or collections rather than a single item.
Where we see value: instead of repeating the same task on every product page, give clear instructions and check the results together. AI-generated text and proposed changes still need a human check.
Important limitation: these batches must be reviewed in a desktop or mobile browser, not the Shopify app. Published changes cannot be undone automatically. Compare the original and proposed values before approving. Official Sidekick documentation.
2. Shopify Flow: compare and restore a workflow version
Fall ’26 highlights the ability to preview, compare and restore an earlier Flow version. Restoration opens a draft that you can review before activation.
Where we see value: investigating a workflow that behaves unexpectedly after an edit. Compare versions rather than guessing what changed, then decide which configuration to continue from.
Important limitation: restoring replaces the current draft. History events are retained for one year. This restores workflow configuration, not actions that have already run. Official Flow version history guidance.
3. Product data: the right title for each channel
Channel mapping lets you choose which product data an eligible channel receives, including Google & YouTube or Facebook & Instagram. You can send a different title without changing the title displayed in your online store.
Where we see value: larger catalogs where the same presentation does not suit every channel. We would start with a specific data problem rather than rebuilding every field.
Important limitation: Shop and Shopify Collective are not supported. A field mapping applies to all products published to that channel, and the preview does not guarantee listing approval. Official channel mapping documentation.
Where should you start?
If administration is the bottleneck, try a small Sidekick task first. If a workflow changes unexpectedly, compare its Flow versions. If product listings contain the wrong information, check channel data. This is our practical selection, not a promise that a feature will increase sales by itself.
